Strawberry Shotcake Birthday

We celebrated Allie's birthday on Saturday with her friends and family. It was a great (hot) May day. Allie decided right after her 4th Birthday that she wanted a Strawberry Shortcake party when she turned 5 so that is what we had. We had the party at our place and rented a bounce house. Allie had so much fun jumping in that thing all day. Before the party, during, and after. I think at one point or another we all got in and bounced with her, including Austin who just loved it. After the party with her friends Nana, Poppee (my parents) and Mimi (Heath's mom) all stayed and we bounced some more, then ate and did presents. By the time we got around to our gifts Allie was so tired, she was actually not that in to it. Heath and I got her a bike for her birthday and surprised her with it. While she was not looking we put it in the kitchen and when she thought we were done we actually told her to go and throw away some trash and she found it. I knew she was excited because 1st thing Sunday morning she said she wanted to go out and ride it. Over all it was a great day with friends from school, gymnastics, soccer, and lifetime friends and family, who could have asked for a better.

Happy Birthday Baby Girl

Wow, where do I begin 5 years ago today-actually right about this time (it's 10:57 and Allie was born at 11:14) you came into this world screaming and making your presence known. At over a month early we thought for sure you would be in the NICU you but no, you were a healthy 5 lbs 9oz. and only have to visit the NICU for about 2 hours just so they could monitor you. 5 years of joy, happiness, some tears but mostly lots and lots of love. I never really knew how much I could love one little person until the Dr. put you in my arms. Just the sight of you made my heart swell larger than I knew. You are such a blessing to our family. I really am finding it hard to find the words to express how much these 5 years have meant to me. I am such a different person because of you. You were the first to call me mommy, and your smile just melts my heart. I love doing stuff with you, going to the mall, shopping, playing and everything else. I do not know what I am going to do without my girl with me next fall. I wanted to include some pics of you, Allie so here goes:

I love that you can see how small you actually were in this pic. This was fathers day 2003.
Here you are on your 1st Birthday sharing cake with Your name sake (aka memaw)

Here you are in 2005 with the girls.

Here is 4th of July 2006- Nana and I made this outfit after seeing one similar in Gymboree for about $40.

This picture was taken in July 2007 and I know that look well, I just love how it looks like you are holding in a big laugh and at any moment it is going to come pouring out.

And here you are now a big 5 year old girl.

My how you have changed. I love you so much honey. I have loved you and will always love you. You may be a daddy's girl but you will always be my girl. Happy Birthday honey, love Mommy

Baseball Anyone???

We had a fun filled baseball weekend and I loved it. I love going to baseball games, the sounds, the smell, being outside, spending time together with Heath and the kids, I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY love it, even when it's hot I usually have a great time. So on Saturday night we went to the local minor league teams game with our small group from church. I did not bring my camera but a friend sent me this shot of Allie . We got seats in the outfield which is just a big grass area so the kids could all run around. Most of the other families left early so once it was just us (and my dad- my mom is visiting my brother so he hung out with us this weekend) we moved to seats to watch the rest of the game. They won but that was not the best part, we have been looking for a baseball hat for Allie for a while- which sounds easy but really isn't. She wanted a real baseball hat for the rangers or Baylor and really wanted it in pink. They make tons for ladies and little babies but we have had a really hard time finding a pink one in her size. Well we went by the gift shop and found the perfect Rangers little girl hat. It even has strawberries on it, which made it even more perfect since she is having a strawberry shortcake party. I managed to get it without her knowing it, so it was a great night. On Sunday was Church and then we all went to the Rangers game with my dad. They were playing the Astros and Heath and him have been trying to go each year so we went. Of course we decided to give Allie her hat early so she could wear it. I will have to get a pic of her to post. The Rangers lost but, but we still had a great time. Thanks dad for getting our tickets. Other than that we just did stuff around the house, heath mowed the yard and He and Allie washed the truck as Austin and I watched, and we finished priming the guest room and painted a test patch of the new color, so all in all it was a very good productive weekend with lots of family time. I love weekends like this. I do not think we really had to get on to Allie once all weekend which is so nice (I know all you mom's understand that one). I am out of town for work the next couple of days and then we have Allie's Birthday on Saturday. My little girl will be 5, where has the time gone? I will try and post pics after her party. Hope you all had a great weekend and a good week.

funny comment/Mothers Day update

I had to add 2 funny comments that Allie said from yesterday's post. The first was from a couple of months back, Allie and I were trying to tickle Heath one morning and he of course kept getting us, so Allie ran out and got her "Fraton" aka a plastic baton, and as she ran in the room with it she said "Lets get his blood" Heath and I just about fell on the floor laughing, and then wondered what it was she has been watching on those cartoons.
The other one came as we were sitting at dinner tonight. Heath asked Allie what she was doing tomorrow and she said Math, we were joking if she could do algebra and maybe she could tutor Heath. Allie then looked up and said "I didn't toot, I'm the burper". The she said that's what they call me school. Great just what we wanted her to learn at school.
Well I hope you all had a great mother's day. I did we went to church, and then to lunch with my parents and sister. Then it was just a lazy afternoon around here. Since Heath and I have our anniversary this week my parents watched the kids Friday night so we could have a date night. Dinner was great and it was nice to be able to sleep in a little on Saturday. I then got a new digital camera that I have been wanting since Christmas. We have been waiting to get a gift card and finally got it in the mail so I am super excited about it. Once I figure everything out I am sure you all will see lots of new pic of the kids. I also got a new umbrella and cushions for out table outback, overall a great Mothers day and anniversary. Even without all the stuff I know how blessed I am to have the best husband and 2 amazing kids around. Talk to y'all soon.

Happy Mothers Day!!!

Happy Mothers day to all the mom's out there but especially to my mom who I am so lucky to have. Not only is she my mom but she is also one of my best friends. I love that I can talk to her about anything and she will listen and understand. I love you so much mom and am so thankful to have you.
Also to my mother-in-law thank you so much for raising such a great a son and always being there. Thank you for always loving me and encouraging me.
I hope you all have a wonderful day and take time to enjoy being a mom and telling your mom how much you love them. I know I would not be the person I am without her constant love and support.

Funny comments from a 4 year old

Since so many of my friends have recently listed out funny things there kids have said and since Austin only says mama and dada I thought I would list some cute things Allie has said. The first thing she actually said tonight in the car. We had stopped to get gas and the car next to us had 2 couple going to prom in it. The guys went in the store and the girls followed soon after. Well when one of the girls got out of the car I saw her dress and had to bite my tongue. It was tight and VERY short. Allie all the sudden says "mommy her dress is to short, I agreed and we talked about how we do not wear short skirts like that it's not nice etc. and then she went on to say she looks like a Bratz doll. It was too funny and I thought and that is why those dolls are not allowed in our house.
Another a couple of years back was- Dora talks spinach (she meant Spanish)
When she came to visit me in the hospital right after Austin was born she asked if the Dr. had put my tummy back on- I was confused and then realized she thought the Dr had taken it off to get Austin out- We just let her think that.
When she was about 2 and half and just realizing boys and girls are different she told me, Heath and my sister, Mommy and I have a bottom but Daddy has a hinney. (again we just left it at that, but I think Heath was most embarrassed that she decided to talk this in front of my sister).
I know there are tons more- we have had lots of questions about the female body, especially since I nurse Austin that I don't think I want to put on the wed for the world to read but I am sure all you moms of little one's can understand- they are curious of how stuff works and why things are the way they are, even when it comes to our bodies. Hope you are all having a good weekend.

5 and 5

Well Allie's first season of soccer ended on Saturday and the ended the season being 5 and 5. In fact they actually won the last 4 games. A HUGE improvement considering the first half of the season (we did not play) the team did not win a game and when we started the first 4 games it looked like more of the same. Allie actually played Goalie the first quarter of the game. I think I was more nervous after watching her warm up. Thankfully not a goal got past her. She did great. Heath and I have learned from the other parents to bribe the girls with ice cream if they score a goal It just gives them a little extra push to try hard). Well we have been telling Allie that but she honestly really was never that interested until last week. While she did not score a goal (she got close 2 times) she played harder and kicked the ball more than I think she has all season, so needless to say we went and got ice cream that night. I am so proud of her and I think it has really been good for her to play on a team sport. She has always done dance or gymnastics so it is nice to see her play with a group. I think we are all a little sad the season has come to an end. I know I will miss watching the games and usually during practice myself and a couple of the other mom's walk the track, so I am going to have to find another activity to do on those nights. I am including a few pics of her in Goal- the are actually right before the game started, I was not able to get any while the game was going because whenever the ball would get on her end I was to busy watching to get pics.

If you look close you can see the ball between her feet.

I really like this one because you can see she is really running to get the ball from the other team.
